"Understanding is the first step to acceptance, and only with acceptance can there be recovery."
― J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Have you ever wished you could try something new, but the fear controls you to the point that you make excuses and talk yourself out of it? Your curiosity peaks and you almost take that first challenging step, but retreat at that last second due to fear of the unknown. I have found through my practice that some clients have denied themselves the opportunity to experience the healing art of Reflexology because of their fear or reluctance to try something new. However, once experienced, they are pleasantly surprised, engaged and motivated to continue their healing journey with this holistic therapy. On my website, I've been blessed to have client's share their experiences through their testimonials. These testimonials are a glimpse into their journey of discovery, acceptance and engagement of Reflexology. As a registered Reflexologist, I do not prescribe, diagnose or treat for specific conditions. I wholeheartedly believe in this therapy and invite clients to take the opportunity to explore it and share their findings. It always amazes me and what I have found fascinating, is the story that unfolds in relation to their general health and wellbeing through their feet. If one was to research Reflexology, there are a number of sites that either acknowledge or discredit the healing properties of this holistic therapy. The skeptics try to infuse a sense of fear to sway into your subconscious that alternative modalities are not proven therapies. Through my own personal experience, I didn't let the fear of the unknown control me. I took that step in 2009 and booked my first Reflexology session. Like an inquisitive kid, I asked a number of questions throughout my therapy. I was totally immersed in trying to understand what I was feeling and how it associated with the areas of my feet. When the session came to an end, my mind, body and spirit were at ease. This was a complete first for me. You may remember a tv commercial from not long ago, where the client buys the business because they are so impressed with the product. Consequently for me, the client becomes the Reflexologist. It was just that simple. I believe in the healing properties of Reflexology wholeheartedly. I can attest personally my own healing journey as well as seeing and experiencing the results and changes associated with my clients and the positive benefits enjoyed through Reflexology. It is my belief that our acceptance to change welcomes a new journey that provides a stepping stone to recovery. In 2015, unleash the inhibitions and step toward a new journey of discovery and recovery through Reflexology!
